欽定版聖經，又稱詹姆士王譯本或詹姆士王聖經，由英王詹姆斯一世的命令下翻譯的英文版本聖經，出版時間1611年。
背景
1380年，威克里夫將當時通用的拉丁文聖經譯成中古英文。
青年學者丁道爾(1484–1536)在與崇奉教皇的羅馬公教學者辯論時，說出預言性的壯語：“我不管教皇和他的規條;如果神假我以年，在短短數年之內，我要使扶著犁耕田的農家孩子，比你更懂聖經!”1522年，他得到了馬丁路德翻譯的德語聖經，受其啓發，決定將聖經翻譯到英語中。1526年至1536年十年間，丁道爾將新約聖經及舊約的一半譯爲現代英語，但沒有譯完就被以異端罪處以火刑了。但丁道爾的聖經對後世的譯本產生了深刻的影響，爲後來的《馬太聖經》，英國第一本官方認可的《大聖經》，以及《日內瓦聖經》奠定了基礎。欽定版聖經有百分之八十多來自丁道爾翻譯的聖經 。有人說，英語聖經的歷史開始於丁道爾，而非威克里夫。
內容差異
在舊約聖經，與使用耶和華之名的中文譯本不同，欽定本將大部分Jehovah換成LORD(四字母均大寫，以區別Lord);但是在兩個地方(賽12:2和26:4)，原文連續用兩個Jehovah的時候，此譯本譯爲the LORD Jehovah。其他譯出Jehovah的五處地方分別是創世記22:14、出埃及6:3、出埃及17:15、士師記6:24、詩篇83:18。
在新約聖經，由於欽定本使用的文本是公認文本(拉丁語：Textus Receptus; 英語：received text)，而現代譯本使用的都是亞歷山大文本類型(主要依據兩個抄本，西乃抄本和梵蒂岡抄本)，所以在很多地方，欽定本與現代譯本都有不小的差別。其中最大的差別之一是：現代譯本所根據的亞歷山大文本類型缺少馬可福音16:9-20和約翰福音7:53-8:11;因此現代的諸多譯本(如英語的新國際版聖經、漢語的聖經新譯本)只好將其保留，但在正文中或腳註裏告訴讀者是後來抄本加上去的。
公認文本有幾個不同的版本，有伊拉斯謨的文本，有羅伯特·司提反的文本，也有貝扎的文本 ，它們之間還是存在一些差別。弗雷德裏克·斯克裏夫納曾經仔細地查考欽定版聖經的底本，發現其譯者們主要跟從貝扎1598年的版本，但也參考了羅伯特·司提反的文本，此外也參考了武加大聖經的版本 。他發現欽定本聖經在139處地方與貝扎的文本不一致 。其中59處地方與司提反1550年的文本是一致的。其他幾十處地方，他常常能在伊拉斯謨的版本中或是在《康普魯頓合參本》中找到對應 。但在一些地方，他卻找不到與欽定本對應的希臘語文本，而在拉丁武加大聖經中找到了對應 ，比如在約翰福音10:16，希臘語是“合成一羣”，但欽定本是“合成一圈”，與武加大譯本 "unum ovile"一致。再如，使徒行傳9:6的前半句話“掃羅驚恐地說道，主，要我做什麼?”也是源自拉丁武加大譯本。
以下經文縮寫爲：KJV(欽定版聖經)、ASV(美國標準版)、NIV(新國際版聖經)和NASB(新美國標準聖經)和中文和合本聖經，以及羅馬天主教使用的思高本聖經。
以賽亞書12:2
(KJV): Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
(NIV): Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD , the LORD , is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."

現在的文本
現在印刷的欽定版聖經基於1769年牛津大學出版的版本，而不是1611年的版本。 牛津版的聖經糾正了一些小的標點錯誤，對於爲達通順而增加的單詞用斜體更仔細地標記，並更新了拼寫，使之全書統一併和現代一致。

在各教會的使用
於17世紀至今，廣泛流傳了差不多達四個世紀的英王欽定本，仍是得到普遍公認、且被很多教會使用的英文聖經。
