額我略聖詠，又叫做格里高利聖詠，一種音樂體裁，產生時間是在中世紀時期的宗教性聲樂形式，歌詞主要來自聖經和詩篇，音樂服從於唱詞，代表人物是格里高利一世。
早期單聲聖歌的發展
在基督教會最初的時期，無伴奏的歌唱就已經是基督教禮拜儀式的一部分。直到1990年代中期，古猶太聖詩對早期基督教儀式和聖詩的影響得到廣泛公認。但這一觀點已不被學者接受，因爲分析顯示大部分早期基督教聖詩並沒有歌本，而這些聖詩在公元70年第二聖殿被毀後，已經有數百年未在猶太會堂中演唱了 。不過，早期基督教儀式卻是融合了猶太儀式的元素，保存在後來的聖詠傳統中。祈禱時刻來源於猶太的禱告時間，“阿們”和“哈利路亞”都來自於希伯來語 。
《新約聖經》中提到，在最後晚餐中唱了聖詩：“他們唱了詩，就出來往橄欖山去。” 。
根據傳說，聖神化爲鴿子降臨教宗額我略一世，口授額我略聖詠。
